    Stand for Children is a non-profit education advocacy organization focused on ensuring all students receive a high quality, relevant education, especially those whose boundless potential is overlooked and under-tapped because of their skin color, zip code, first language, or disability. 

    The Position

    Your role stands at the intersection of organizing and the fight to change the odds particularly for children who aren’t getting a fair shot. Stand for Children is currently hiring a new part-time Outreach Coordinator for our Statewide Organizing Program – which will take our organizing to the next level of scale and impact. The Statewide Organizing Program enables us to have a solid ongoing presence in targeted locations to impact state policy decisions and elections and, where strategic to the state work, local policy decisions and elections. The Outreach Coordinator serves in a critical support role in this statewide body of work. The part-time position is responsible for working with schools and community partners to recruit and build strong Stand for Children base committed to acting to win our campaigns which align with our overarching state impact goals. The position works under the supervision of the State Organizing Director, with critical support and collaboration with the Organizer.

    Responsibilities

     

    Build Pipeline, Educate and Engage:

     

    • Build Stand for Children pipeline of parent volunteers and community members who are ready and willing to participate and act in activities that boost success at the school(s) assigned;
    • Build a consistent pipeline of several hundred supporters – potentially across multiple school communities;
    • Plan and execute at least 6 Stand for Children workshops to educate and engage parents;
    • Provide simple monthly action opportunities to engage your base of supporters;
    • Through meaningful cultivation and relationship management, identify potential Leaders and Members for the assigned Organizer to pull up the ladder of engagement. Our ladder of engagement functions as a series of increasingly important roles.

    Communication and Reporting:

    • The Outreach Coordinator must check-in with the Statewide Organizing Director at least every other week (or bi-monthly) to discuss progress to goals, strategize, plan and discuss ongoing campaigns;
    • The Outreach Coordinator must share hot leads, and provide a list of potential leaders and members for the Organizer to follow-up with on an ongoing basis;
    • The Outreach Coordinator Is responsible for timely collection and management of a variety of data points and ensuring that all data gets entered and is managed for quality;
    • The Outreach Coordinator must submit a monthly progress report to the Organizing Director and participate in an in-person evaluation with the Organizing Director 4-times a year;
    • The Outreach Coordinator must provide regular communication about engagement opportunities and campaign updates to keep the base informed and engaged about what’s coming up;
    • The Outreach Coordinator will periodically meet with community partners, school principals and/or other appropriate staff to provide updates and build awareness/value about the work being done;
    • The Outreach Coordinator may be required to participate in staff meetings, calls, and retreats.

    Qualifications

    • Highly organized and responsible self-starter;
    • Ability to facilitate workshops in an engaging and inviting way;
    • Ability to effectively present information and material in a variety of formal settings: one-on-one, small and large groups, consisting of diverse people including parents, community members, educators, school administrators, and Stand staff;
    • Ability to manage and maintain direction and course during the presentation; can adjust and change tactics midstream when something isn’t working;
    • Experience inspiring other colleagues, volunteers, and community members to important and critical organizing work;
    • Ability to communicate and connect with a variety of stakeholders -- parents, school staff and community partners;
    • Ability and willingness to make a large number of phone calls to ensure success;
    • Respect for economic and cultural diversity, experience working with diverse groups of people.

    Stand for Children consists of two separate entities. Stand for Children, Inc., a grassroots membership organization is exempt under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code, and Stand for Children Leadership Center, a leadership development organization is exempt under section 501(c)(3)
